The 2011 People's Choice Winner, Javier Sicilia

NiUNAMASNIUNOMAS felicita a Javier Sicilia por haber recibido el reconocimiento People's Choice Honoree 2011 de Global Exchange Fund, "por su valentía y pasión para acabar con la violencia en México". Este reconocimiento a quienes luchan por los Derechos Humanos le será entregado el 1ero de junio en san Francisco, California, EEUU.

On behalf of Global Exchange, we are very excited to announce Javier Sicilia as the 2011 People's Choice Honoree. Javier Sicilia is a Mexican father, poet, and citizen whose 24 year old son was murdered in a drug war massacre on March 28, 2011. He is leading a broad and growing national movement to end the violence.

Javier Sicilia will be recognized along with our other Human Rights Award recipients, Pablo Solón, Bolivian Ambassador to the United Nations, and Wilma Subra, Gulf Coast activist at Global Exchange's Annual Human Rights Awards on June 1 in San Francisco.
